Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat Oscar De la Hoya on our brown brothers very own holiday! Cinco Dé Mayo fell on Saturday along with several punches back and forth. The super welterweight championship was held at the MGM Grand Arena in
Las Vegas Nevada. Mayweather was escorted to the ring by rapper 50 Cent performing “Straight To The Bank”, the first official single off of his 3rd major LP. De La Hoya threw far more punches than Mayweather in an almost desperate bid to overcome Mayweather’s slippery defense. He trapped Mayweather on the ropes and in the corner almost every round, throwing flurries to his head. But many more missed than landed, allowing Mayweather to dance away, often after countering with a punch or two of his own. Mayweather stole the crown via a controversial split decision, that even his own estranged father did not agree with. The new champion collected a purse of $10 Million and announced his plans to retire, stating he has nothing left to prove and he wants to spend more time with his children… Check out the full story at MSNBC.com.
In other news this weekend Actor, Director and Playwright Tyler Perry announced his search for the next chitlin circuit singing sensation! We’re just kidding! Speaking of B-List artist in need of a job…People.com is reporting Former Facts of Life/Diff’rent Strokes star Kim Fields, 37, aka ‘Tootie,’ and her boyfriend Christopher Morgan, 30, welcomed their son Sebastian Alexander Morgan, on Friday at 11:30 am. Sam — his parents plan to call him by his initials — weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces, and is 19 inches long.
On TV: It’s Monday our favorite TV day of the week. There’s lots of choices for primetime today and if you are anything like us here at the SdB eZine you will be flipping back and forth between 2 or 3 shows. The lineup includes Deal or No Deal on NBC and Dancing with the Stars on ABC both at 8:00 p.m. In the 9:00 p.m. slot our pick is the hour long season finale of Girlfriends. Joan, played by actress Tracee Ellis Ross reportedly will receive that long awaited proposal! Heroes will also premiere in the same time slot on NBC! Be there or be square people!
On SdB: The board has already started to undergo a transition in anticipation of its official closure and or dedication to the SdB ezine. On a sad note the sections have been reduced to just a few catagories so go check out what’s left before it’s gone. On a happy note if enough interest is shown the board may just become dedicated to the SdB ezine with a focus on gossip and and entertainment. What say you? It’s Monday!!! Here is this weeks website NOT TO see: worldchangers dot.com Today’s website is definatly a warning for US! While channel surfing in the wee hours of the morning this weekend an SdB eZine staff member ran across a funny but also disturbing tv evangelist taking calls and healing folks over the phone. We at the SdB eZine do not want to alienate or offend our Christian readership however we feel compelled to warn our readers:
1. You should not ever have to pay a real Christian to pray for you. Not to mention, you can pray for yourself for FREE.
2. Diamond Donor, Platinum Donor and other such names are just code word for big sucker.
3. Calling into a TV evangelist “touched by the hand of God” and putting the phone to your ailment (as was wtnessed this weekend on BET) will probably not heal you, infact instead of sending your hard earned money to these obvious frauds use it to see a doctor.
With television and online evangelisim at an all time high – bilking billions out of millions we felt compelled to put that out there. But we are content in the fact that there is a special place in hell for the people who prey on other people needs and wants.
